Privacy Policy
Seth Jamison Kitchen, P.E. · Professional Engineering Services — Missouri · Effective 2026-10-05
1. Who we are
This policy covers the "Seth Kitchen, PE" ChatGPT plugin, its order, payment and terms pages, and the related email (together, the "Service"), operated by Seth Jamison Kitchen, P.E. ("Seth", "we", "us"), Professional Engineering Services — Missouri. Questions or requests: contact@seth.kitchen · (314) 916-6010.
By using the Service you agree that we may collect, use and share information as described here. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide: your name, email address and (optionally) phone number; the project location (street address if you give it, city, county, state); the description of your project or question, timeline and discipline; the mailing address for a printed report; and any photos, drawings, measurements or other files you attach.
Order and payment information: the order reference, fee, status, the version and time you accepted the Terms of Engagement, and the payment confirmation and reference returned by our payment processor. Card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and are never collected or stored by us.
Information from ChatGPT: when you use the plugin, ChatGPT sends us the details it gathers from your conversation for the tool being used, and a pseudonymous identifier for your ChatGPT account. We use that identifier only so you can look up your own requests later. We do not receive your ChatGPT conversation history beyond what is sent to the plugin.
Technical information: our hosting provider automatically records request logs, including IP address, browser user agent, the page or tool requested and timestamps. Each request also stores its creation and update times and a log of the emails sent about it. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers or third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
Communications: emails and other messages you exchange with Seth about a request or engagement.
3. Information you should not send
The Service does not need, and you should not send, Social Security numbers or other government identification numbers, payment card numbers, health or medical information, passwords or other login credentials, or privileged or confidential legal material. If you send such information anyway, we may delete it.
4. How we use information
We may use the information we collect for any lawful business purpose related to Seth's engineering practice, including to:
• respond to inquiries, evaluate whether we can take on a project, prepare quotes, and perform, document and deliver engineering services, reports and expert-witness or consulting work;
• process payments, refunds and invoices, mail reports, and provide order status and tracking;
• communicate with you about your request, engagement, related services, and new or updated services we think may interest you (you can opt out of marketing messages at any time);
• keep business and professional records, meet licensing, professional-practice, tax and accounting obligations, and comply with law, subpoenas and court orders;
• establish, exercise or defend legal claims, enforce our terms, and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents;
• operate, maintain, troubleshoot and improve the Service and our practice; and
• create de-identified or aggregated information (for example, counts of inquiries by service or state), which we may use for any purpose.
We do not use your information for behavioral advertising, and we do not build profiles of your activity across other sites or apps.
5. How we share information
We may share information with:
• Service providers who process it on our behalf: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud hosting, database, file storage and logs; Google Workspace and Gmail for email), Stripe (payments), and printing, mailing and shipping carriers.
• Professionals and parties involved in an engagement, as needed for the work: other engineers, subconsultants, peer reviewers or technical specialists; your contractors, design professionals or representatives when you ask us to; and, for insurance or legal matters, the attorneys, insurers, adjusters, courts, opposing parties and other participants in the claim or case for which you engaged us.
• Our professional advisors, such as attorneys, accountants and insurers, and state licensing boards when required.
• Government authorities, courts or others when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process or professional rules, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of anyone.
• A successor, if Seth's practice is merged, sold, transferred or reorganized, subject to this policy.
• Anyone else with your direction or consent.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. How long we keep information
Inquiries and orders, with their attachments, contact details, terms acceptance and email logs: kept for up to 10 years after the request is created or the engagement ends, whichever is later, as engineering and business records (reflecting Missouri's statute of repose for improvements to real property). A request that doesn't lead to an engagement may be deleted sooner.
Emails: kept in Seth's Workspace mailbox for the same period. Secure download links to attachments in email notifications expire after 7 days; the files remain in our storage for the period above.
Server request logs: kept for about 30 days by our hosting provider, longer only if needed to investigate a security or abuse issue.
Payment records: kept by Stripe under its own policies and by us for at least 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
We may keep information longer when required by law or needed for a legal claim, dispute, subpoena or litigation hold, and may keep de-identified information indefinitely.
7. Your choices and rights
Access, correction and deletion: email contact@seth.kitchen to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. We will respond within 30 days. We may keep information we are required to keep or need for an active engagement, an open legal matter, or the records described above, and will tell you if so.
Marketing: every marketing email lets you opt out, or you can reply asking us to stop. We will still send messages about your existing requests and orders.
Within ChatGPT: you choose what to share with the plugin, and you can disconnect it at any time in ChatGPT's settings. Information already sent to us is handled under this policy; information in your ChatGPT account is handled under OpenAI's privacy policy.
Residents of some states may have additional rights under their state's privacy law; contact us and we will honor them as that law requires.
8. Security
Information is stored with Google Cloud and Firebase, encrypted in transit and at rest, with access limited to Seth and the service accounts that run the Service. Attachment links in our emails use unguessable tokens and expire. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send.
9. Children
The Service is for adults (18 and older) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
10. Where information is processed
The Service is operated from Missouri, United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The version date at the top shows when it last changed. Changes take effect when posted; if a change materially expands how we use or share information you already provided, we will notify you by email or in the Service before it applies to that information.
